3-Week Individual Project: Interactive Storytelling Space
Reminder! you and your team continue working on your group project beside this individual Mini Project.
Objective:
Students will create an interactive 3D art space that tells a story through the use of dynamic lighting, spatial audio, scene transitions, and recorded dialogues or soundscapes. This project encourages creativity, technical skills, and storytelling ability.
Project Description:
Each student will design a themed, abstract 3D environment where visitors (the audience) can trigger different audio-visual experiences as they navigate through the space. The theme can be open to the students’ interpretation (e.g., seasons, emotions, space exploration, underwater adventure) but should be cohesive throughout the experience.
Core Components:
- Scene Transition:
- Implement at least one scene transition that takes the participant from the starting point to the main interactive space or between different areas within the space. The transition can be triggered by user movement or specific interactions with objects in the environment.
- Experience flow:
- Audio OnTrigger, OnTrigger Enter
- Incorporate spatial audio clips that are triggered when the visitor approaches certain areas or objects. These can include environmental sounds, music, or recorded dialogues that enhance the storytelling aspect of the space.
- Audio Fade:
- Use audio fading techniques to smoothly transition between sounds as the visitor moves through the space or interacts with objects, creating a dynamic and immersive audio experience.
- Lighting OnTrigger:
- Design interactive lighting that changes when triggered by the visitor's movements or interactions. This can include lights that reveal hidden messages on walls, change the mood of the space, or guide the visitor through the narrative.
- Recording Audio:
- Students must record at least two original audioclips to incorporate into their space. This could be a piece of dialogue, ambient sounds, or a music clip. Encourage creativity and relevance to the theme.
Deliverables:
- Design Document:
- A brief document outlining the theme, storyboard, planned interactions, and a list of assets required (3D models or 2.5D sprites, audio clips, textures).
- Interactive 3D Space:
- A fully functional build where all interactions can be demonstrated.
- Presentation:
- A short presentation
- Explain their design choices based on knowledge students learned from the workshops sessions,
- challenges faced
- how they implemented the various components to execute cohesive design concept
