Reflection:
Reflecting on the development of the basic physical prototype for "Harmonised Divergence: A Tale of Two Cities," the journey from concept to prototype was both challenging and rewarding. Initially, the conceptualization phase was strong, with an ambitious vision that aimed to blend the experiences of life in India and New York City into a unified immersive installation. Successfully, the project managed to create a sensory-rich prototype that captured the essence of both cities through interactive elements of light and sound, drawing positive early feedback for its innovative approach.
However, the project encountered significant challenges, particularly with technical limitations and resource constraints that impacted the desired level of interactivity and immersion. Achieving narrative coherence across the diverse cultural, architectural, and personal stories from both cities required continuous refinement and posed a challenge. User interaction varied, with feedback indicating a need for improved navigability and engagement.
Throughout the development process, adaptability and the incorporation of feedback were crucial in navigating these challenges. The iterative approach to design and development highlighted the importance of realistic goal-setting and effective project management. Despite the hurdles, the successes of the project underscore the potential of the concept to offer a meaningful exploration of cultural and urban diversity. Moving forward, insights gained from this phase will guide future enhancements, focusing on interactivity, narrative coherence, and user engagement to realise the full vision of the immersive experience.
